The web is like Celtic Art

Those annoying little pixies with high pitched voices that scream in your head and go around and around, first one way then the other (stare at the image right). They simply just won't stop unless you get proactive and do something positive...My website needs hits, my web site needs hits my website needs traffic...

Did you realise that millions and millions of people use the Internet daily for their primary source of news? With this simple piece of information in mind why not create a news release that is topical, relevant to your site and optimised for web searches. This simple process used in blogs or emailed newsletters might get the attention of the journalists and newshounds and maybe lead to bigger media coverage. It worked for us!

The web is like Celtic Art, it is interwoven, an endless knot, which could drive you mad if you try to unravel it. Stop the voices...My website needs visitors, my web site needs visitors my website needs traffic...

Celtic art is ornamental, decorative, avoiding straight lines and only sometimes using symmetry. Celtic art is a combination of various styles and draws upon influences from several cultures. Motifs are: knotwork, spirals, key patterns, lettering, zoomorphics, plant forms and human figures.

Google errors - Webmaster Tools benchmark?

The most useful set of free tools available on the web (for us) is  Google's Webmaster Tools. This set of reports are visible from their dashboard and are (fairly) simple to use. It is however important to remember that the whole holistic picture of your site's performance is not there in one place. Webmaster Tools stats show only search queries from Google. Your log files may combine search results from all search engines, so you must also check on Yahoo! etc.

Webmaster tools on Google are perhaps the best way of tracking your site's performance. Unfortunatley, like everything else, it sometimes goes wrong but unlike some reporting sites, Google issues heads up statements and come clean.

Quote: 'The search query data shown in Webmaster Tools for the month of June may not be complete for some sites at the moment. We are aware of this issue and are looking into it; you do not need to take any action. We hope to have the full data shown again in the near future. This will have no effect on your site's performance in search results. Thank you for your patience. Update: This issue is now resolved and all missing data has been restored'  Read blog post (June 10th 2010 and resolved June 24th 2010)

We have been down for a while

Unfortunately this site has been down for a while... However we  are BACK!

Thanks mainly to our friends at North Devon Web

A D V E R T I S E M E N T
for them
Our websites are powered by 100% wind energy; we are proud that the machines hosting our Web site and e-mail are fully eco-friendly! As energy awareness continues to grow, people are not just looking to make lifestyle adjustments, they want to make environmentally responsible decisions, North Devon Web is powered by renewable energy.

We are making the effort and helping our clients to be eco-conscious. This initiative isn't a marketing ploy; we encourage responsible environmental practices inside the office and practice them outside the office and we know that many of our clients feel just as strongly.

North Devon Web can provide web hosting. There are lots of companies on the web who can provide cheap options - the majority are trustworthy. We can arrange hosting either in the UK or in the USA; we have clients who host on both sides of the Atlantic.

Veronica Henry - Sitemap

Jane Milton doesn't want to sell her beloved beach hut, which has been the heart of so many family holidays and holds so many happy memories. But when her husband dies, leaving her with an overwhelming string of debts, she has no choice but to sell.

The Beach Hut follows the stories of the people who own the beach huts, families who come to Everdene each year, people who fall in - or out of - love, remembering their pasts, or trying to forget them... Veronica Henry has brilliantly drawn together the comings and goings of life at the beach huts over one long, hot, lazy summer...

WRITER IN RESIDENCE AT HOTEL DU VIN!
My publishers, The Orion Publishing Group, and Hotel du Vin/Malmaison hotel are delighted to announce their collaboration on a “Writers in Residence” project that will run from July through to November 2010.
I am absolutely thrilled to be kicking off the initiative, and will be writer in residence as follows:
  • 19/20 July Hotel du Vin Poole (UK)
  • 21/22 July Hotel du Vin, Brighton (UK)
I’ll be Twittering about my experience, and writing a short story inspired by my visit – if I can manage to drag myself out of the wonderful Egyptian cotton sheets or the infamous HdV baths!
I remember going to the first Hotel du Vin when it opened in Winchester: I was enchanted, and have remained a huge fan ever since. We both strive for a similar style – quintessentially English escapism with a touch of wit – so I think it will be a very productive collaboration, and the perfect environment to find inspiration.
My fellow Orion authors Katie Agnew and RJ Ellory will be following suit (or should that be suite) later in the year, and are both very entertaining as well as being wonderful writers. For more information, read press release

Veronica Henry writes articles for The Daily Mail – here’s a link to an article she wrote about becoming invisible at 40.
