Snare your business visitors

Most people seem to fail to understand how the Internet works; lacking the understanding of how to get the most out of their blogs and websites (quitting when they fail to make a quick income).

To be effective, you must be able to find your web site based on keywords or search terms – which prospective clients may enter into a search box on a Search Engine when looking for your product or service. It is vital Search Engines direct traffic to your website’s content.

The content of your blog or website has to be either useful or informative, constructed within a cohesive structure that is easy to navigate and understand. Where does the visitor go when he lands on your page? You have to hang on to the interloper and steer them in the right direction. Create a cage that keeps them locked into your site and tame them so they don't want to leave. It is no good being left with a deserted graveyard of a site, dumped in the bone yard of forgotten web dreams. Set your traps carefully, snare your visitors.

It is important to survive and once your site is accepted by the search engines, with time, maturity will make you more successful. Being around on the web for a few years is better than being the new kid on the block.

Business struggling to make a profit

Reports and rumors reveal that e-commerce spending is becoming polarized, with websites like lovemoney.com advising readers not to buy products like books (recommending swap sites, bookmooch.com and readitswapit.co.uk) advising their readers to use these alternatives instead of Amazon etc. On … Continue reading →

Recycle your business

The search for new content is a crucial day to day exercise to show your returning visitors that pages are being updated. This task becomes almost impossible when you have nearly said everything there is to say. Try to re-package your blogs content or your websites information and widen your audience - not everyone reacts to the same information in the same way, some people like to read blogs and some like to read more structured information and content.

You can spend hours and hours staring at a blank screen, surfing the web fooling yourself you are working. If you actually analyze the amount of time you spend doing nothing - recycle your ideas to rejuvenate your website, blog or product description.

Free bad business advice

Has the Internet sawn itself in half - with some people avoiding spending on Internet retail sites?

However - the top-performing online products were: Computer Software, Consumer Electronics, Books/Magazines, Computers/Peripherals/PDAs.

Reports and rumors reveal that e-commerce spending is becoming polarized, with websites like lovemoney.com advising readers not to buy products like books (recommending swap sites, bookmooch.com and readitswapit.co.uk) advising their readers to use these alternatives instead of Amazon etc. On the surface this cheap, recycling, money saving piece advise sounds like a good idea but...

Industries like the book industry are struggling to make a profit so advising people not to buy new books not only puts retailers out of business - do you have an independent book seller on the high street of your town? - it also means there will be fewer 'quality' publications physically published and new authors will be unable to make a living, simply because they will have to self publish.

People are constantly looking for free promotions from businesses and are no longer prepared to pay a fare price for things. We have appeared to embraced the ‘something for nothing’ culture  and are consequently (probably) destroying the fundamental laws of capitalism… Continue reading

If you want to read a book for free why not use your local Library? Closures of this fine institution are imminent due to lack of support from the general public so instead of sitting in front of your computer looking for free deals why not go to the Library and get the real deal! Not only do you get a free book the author of the book you borrow will get a small micro payment - that seems a more fair deal to me.

Seo music from Russia

Another long day optimizing clients business websites - the choice is either watch the football on TV or listen to this fantastic Russian (punk?) band. Their is no competition...

Why has Russia become the most exciting place musically in the world? How come raw energy explodes out of this former iron clad growling bear? Maybe there lies the answer and the reason? It was a state controlled, media censored, draconian empire and now....?

Identify your marketing performance

By targeting your market audience through detailed keyword analysis, enables you to promote quality lead generation and create a dynamic SEO campaign. Use off site SEO strategies. Use non-paid link building techniques to increase your website's perceived market relevance within your outlined market sector. However, a little belief in superstition and myth helps.

You can't really afford to be to obscure about your products, you need to know what you are and who you are. To achieve success you need an understanding of your industry and to be able to identify your marketing performance indicators. Understand your online & offline competitors and measure your search engine visibility against them.

Business conundrum

There are lots of things that are important when creating a business website……but where to start? Each bit needs another bit….but which bit first?

It is a real conundrum - The first thing to decide is: Have you got a business in the first place?
Always remember to have the final image in your mind, project who you are first of all.

It is important for your business to survive and and get your website accepted by the search engines. With time, maturity will make you more successful. Being around on the web for a few years is better than being the new kid on the block – just hang in there and create a successful history around your business.

Most websites suffer from unoriginality; they belong to the herd of mediocrity and banality. Write a controversial blog or web page - but be warned  -  a few minutes later, a thousand bloggers will be parodying it with their unique take on the concept. Get the solo part in the choir - at least for a short while. Click - copy – paste. Click - copy – paste. Click - copy – paste. Click - copy – paste etc.

On Exist are from France  - language is a funny thing you need the the key to crack the code otherwise it is all meaningless. Spoken or written words are mute if you can't understand them. 'Twelfth Night' has the famous line in it, 'If music be the food of love, play on;' Shakespear was half right, music might be the food of love but it is also a universal key to understanding.

My grasp of the English language is minimal and my understanding of French is even less - I blame the English school system and possibly myself for being stupid.

There are tracks on ReverbNation but there is more of a selection on MySpace  - which in my opinion are better - however I think 'Young Person' is a mighty fine track.

Micro Interview:

Description: French songs ... Et je répond mieux au xquestions en français. Même si j'ai de la famille en Ecosse

Releases: The Ocean Christmas compilation..with many other artist.

Network: MySpace and Facebook just because it's simple. But for the pro relations we need everytime CD.

Passion des mots, du sens de l'existence, de la force émotionnelle des musiques de l'âme, de la transe naturelle émanant des musiques pop, rock et trip.

KompoZer on Linux

We have been using KompoZer which is a WYSIWYG web page program based on Gecko, the layout engine inside Mozilla. If you are familiar with DreamWeaver you will feel right at home with KompoZer, as it is quick and reliable, supporting XML, CSS and JavaScript, making it a great alternative to other expensive web designing platforms on the market.

  • KompoZer is a stand-alone tool; hence its small size and fast speed.
  • WYSIWYG editing of pages, making web creation as easy as typing a letter with your word processor.
  • Integrated file management via FTP. Simply login to your web site and navigate through your files, editing web pages on the fly, directly from your site.
  • Reliable HTML code creation that will work with all of today's most popular browsers.
  • Jump between WYSIWYG Editing Mode and HTML using tabs.
  • Tabbed editing to make working on multiple pages a snap.
  • Powerful support for forms, tables, and templates.
  • The easiest-to-use, most powerful Web Authoring System available for Desktop Linux, Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh users.
  • Its architecture based on XUL.
We are using it in conjunction with Ubuntu (10.10) and have only suffered a few minor glitches where the program has stuttered when importing JavaScript. We can recommend this software as a simple web production tool and love some of its tools, especially the code cleaning facility which gets rid of most of the annoying surplus code you pick up when constantly re-editing pages.

Growing internet business

Do you have a visible business? What are you doing to get your company noticed? Most of us tinker and mess about with our code, search words and tags, in the hopes of growing our internet business.

As a marketing strategy for increasing a site’s relevance, SEO considers how search algorithms work and what people search for. SEO efforts may involve a site’s coding, presentation, and structure, as well as fixing problems that could prevent search engine indexing programs from fully spidering a site. Another class of techniques, known as black hat SEO or spamdexing, use methods such as link farms and keyword stuffing that tend to harm search engine user experience. Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques and may remove them from their indices.

We can help you update your business for little cost -

There's something about live music that just makes sense. It realises what you hear on a record. Bat For Lashes are a prime example of why live music is more fulfilling than listening to a record. Although their albums (Fur and Gold and Two Suns) are beautifully crafted, the live sound is edgier, purer and ultimately more poignant.

Art and Web Design

The construction of a good web page not only depends on great optimization and content - visually the page or pages must look aesthetically pleasing and have intuitive navigation. The similarity between printed magazine design and layout, with web design is very obvious.

The printed word, the newspaper and magazine might be an endangered spices but we still owe a lot to their process of displaying content in a pleasing and informative way.

P R I N T * A S * A R T

Rediscovering the printing process after nearly 40 years has been an interesting process – disappointingly modern inks are not as rich in colour (earthy colours are very plastic like) and modern waterbased inks don’t become part of the surface, they sit on it, which is incredibly frustrating – the reason I took up printing in the first place was because of the absorbed flatness of the pigments.

WordPress a business tool

One of our favorite tools is WordPress. This free blogging tool is as an easy and extremely effective way of enhancing your web presense and is superb for optimising a website.

Small businesses need to increase their web presence effectively and cheaply. There are a lot of free, and exceptional efficient tools out there and some are more powerful (getting your products into search engines) than expensive branded software and tools. This little step will help you stay in business.

WordPress appeared in 2003, with a few users who were looking for a way to enhance the typography of writing on the Web. Since then it has grown to be the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used on millions of sites and seen by tens of millions of people every day.

North Devon Web can help you with setting up a small business website powered by WordPress. North Devon Web  belongs to a network of websites that host in a green way.  North Devon Web is helping to prevent the release of 2,660 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year by hosting on 'Green Servers' - as a result,  the network's energy efficiency is equivalent to planting approximately 2,390 acres of trees, not driving 6.1 million miles, or removing 510 cars from the road.

Search Engine Optimization - Get a life!

What do people who spend their working days in front of the computer do when they get home? Do they turn on their PC or Mac straight away and eat diner in front of it gaming or searching for porn?

Computers drive me nuts, they are so predictable - they conk out or create the same prescriptive rubbish over and over again....

This is what I do, which probably proves my words of warning to my kids, "You spend to much time in front of that computer, it will drive you insane' - I think I have!

I have begun a series of prints called “Saint Austell” - a saint from the 6th century who was a confessor and disciple of St. Newman of Cornwall, England. Modern scholars believe that Austell was a woman named Hoystill, a daughter of Brychan of Wales. Her (?) feastday  is June 28.

Q U O T E
Christianity with its unchangeable principles, and without misjudging the justifiable demands of the age, undertakes to guide the woman movement also into the right path. The life-task of woman is a double one.
  • As an individual woman has the high destiny obligatory upon every human being of acquiring moral perfection.
  • As a member of the human race woman is called in union with man to represent humanity and to develop it on all sides.

A new exhibition of prints and smaller works is planned for June 2011. Below is an extract from his blog:
Peter Bright - Artist

In preparation for an exhibition in June I have begun to draw again. My previous methodology relied on me subcontracting my creativity to either ‘chance’, allowing the medium to take partial control over the finished image or by letting the computer system deal with my creativity in its prescriptive manner – the program has ways of dealing with commands in a very limit way, hacking the software is the only way of producing images that are different from our everyday visual blitzkrieg of imagery…we are subjected to via the Internet, the printed page and video.

Going back to the basic skills of drawing is an interesting excursion – a journey I’m not sure I will complete. Drawing a life model for the first times in decades was a bit daunting but old tricks and shortcuts were soon remembered and in many respects drawing is a bit like riding a bicycle.
